We're pleased to announce that Waren Morrow has accepted the position of principal at Severance High School.

Mr. Morrow has a proven track record of educational leadership, serving for the last 11 years as the Assistant Principal / Athletic and Activities Director at Lesher Middle School (Fort Collins, Colo.). Prior to the Assistant Principal role, Mr. Morrow held the position of Dean / Athletic and Activities Director and math teacher at Lesher Middle School, as well as high school math teacher in the Weld RE-1 and Poudre school districts. In these positions, he has demonstrated his ability to advocate and provide high-quality education for all students, and this is supported by his selection as Colorado’s CASE 2020 Assistant Principal of the Year.

He earned a bachelor’s in math education and a master’s degree in educational leadership, both from Colorado State University. Prior to entering the field of education, Mr. Morrow served as Sergeant and Crew Chief in the Colorado Army National Guard for seven years.

The final candidates for principal interviewed before three panels of staff, parents / community members, and students, as well as with Incoming Superintendent Michelle Scallon, on May 26. It was clear from these groups that Mr. Morrow will engage the entire SHS community — students, staff, and parents — to build a clear vision for the school. Additionally, the panels spoke highly of Mr. Morrow’s character, noting that his integrity is based at the intersection of his beliefs and actions, a foundation that he intends to bring to SHS.

We look forward to having Mr. Morrow join our team in June, at which time you’ll have the pleasure of hearing from and meeting him directly. We want to thank each of the individuals who provided feedback and volunteered their time for this selection process. Your input was critical in selecting a candidate that will continue to build upon the SHS legacy.

It should be noted that Mr. Morrow was previously selected as an SHS assistant principal. The assistant principal position will be reposted shortly.
